Tämä teos käsittelee graffitien ja katutaiteen laittomuutta. Oli se sitten laitonta tai ei – tai pitäisikö sen edes olla – maalaaminen on aina luovan ilmaisun muoto.

Jotkut pitävät graffiteja ja katutaidetta rumina tai merkityksettöminä. Toiset taas näkevät kauneutta tageissa käytetyissä erikoisissa kirjaimissa, värikkäissä spray-maalin kerroksissa ja jopa laittomuuden romantiikassa. Joillekin se on elämäntapa.

Kelmin Lumo kiinnostus sarjakuvien piirtämiseen alkoi jo lapsena, ja teini-iässä hän löysi graffitien maailman.

Teos esittää urbaania taiteilijaa kehyksissä, jotka on kiinnitetty kierrätetylle puulevylle (vanha kaapin hylly). Tarkemmat tiedot löytyvät kuvien alta.

Artwork description

This artwork explores the illegality of graffiti and street art. Whether it’s illegal or not — or whether it should be illegal — painting is always an act of creative expression.

Some people see graffiti and street art as ugly or uninteresting. Others, however, find beauty in the stylized letters of tags, in the colorful, layered walls covered in spray paint, and in the very romance of illegality. For some, it’s a way of life.

Kelmin Lumo’s interest in drawing comics began in childhood, and his fascination with graffiti emerged during his teenage years.

The piece portrays an urban artist within frames mounted on a reclaimed wooden board (an old cabinet shelf). See detailed information below the photos.
