Teoksen kuvaus

Tässä teoksessa Kelmin Lumo pureutuu vallan, rahan ja työn arvon vääristymiin.

Kultaharkkojen päällä istuva porsas on karikatyyri niistä, jotka rikastuvat muiden työn kustannuksella, ja samalla muistutus siitä, miten helposti työn merkitys typistyy pelkäksi välineeksi jonkun toisen vaurautta varten.

Teos on yhtä aikaa pilkallinen ja surullinen. Se nauraa ahneudelle ja siinä kiteytyy överirikkaan ylimielisyys, mutta samalla se asettaa työn tekemisen mielekkyyden perspektiiviin.

Artwork description

In this work, Kelmin Lumo delves into the distortions of power, money, and the value of labor.

The pig sitting on a pile of gold bars is a caricature of those who grow rich at the expense of others’ work, and a reminder of how easily the meaning of labor can shrink into a mere tool for someone else’s wealth.

The piece is both mocking and melancholic. It laughs at greed and encapsulates the arrogance of the ultra-rich, while at the same time placing the very meaning of work into perspective.
