Tämä teos leikittelee uskolla ja havainnolla, sekä sillä, missä järjestyksessä ne syntyvät. Huumori on sen ytimessä, mutta siinä on terävä havainto: joskus usko luo näyn, ei toisinpäin.

Leivänpaahtimesta ponnahtavat paahtoleivät muistuttavat arjen ihmeestä, joka on saanut uskonnollisen sävyn. Leipäpalaan piirtynyt ruisku on kuin moderni pyhäinjäännös, ja sitä ympäröivät kultaiset säteet tekevät siitä ilmestyksen kaltaisen.

Värimaailma pehmentää aiheen vakavuutta ja korostaa sen ironista kontrastia: kuinka helposti pyhyys voidaan löytää (tai keksiä) mistä tahansa, kun tarve uskoa on riittävän suuri.

Artwork description

This piece plays with faith and perception, and with the question of which comes first. Humor lies at its core, yet beneath it is a sharp observation: sometimes belief creates the vision, not the other way around.

The slices of toast jumping from the toaster recall an everyday miracle with a religious tone. The syringe burned into one of them resembles a modern relic, surrounded by golden rays that make it appear almost divine.

The color palette softens the gravity of the subject and highlights its ironic contrast: how easily holiness can be found (or invented) anywhere, when the need to believe is strong enough.
